Forbundet Frie Fotografer and Fotogalleriet are pleased to announce its Annual Spring Exhibition (Vårutstillingen) taking place at Fotogalleriet from 16 March until 29 April 2012. The exhibition coincides with the awarding of the Art Photography Prize by BKH - Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond (The Relief Fund for Visual Artists) to an artist participating in the Spring Exhibition. Established in 2010 and with an award sum of 100.000 NOK, it is one of the most endowed national art prizes granted to an artist, who exhibits in Norway. The recipient of the award will be announced at the exhibition opening on Thursday, 15 March at 19.00.
The Annual Spring Exhibition was established by Forbundet Frie Fotografer in 1976 and is a juried exhibition showcasing current tendencies in camera-based art. The jury selecting the participating artists is appointed by the members of the Forbundet Frie Fotografer and in 2012 consists of Synne Tollerud Bull, Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson and Behzad Farazollahi. Synne Tollerud Bull is part of the artist duo Bull.Miletic based in Oslo and teaches at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson is an artist based in Oslo. Behzad Farazollahi is the co-founder of Galleri Melk and also works as an artist and musician. For the 2012 edition of the Spring Exhibition the jury collaborated with the director of Fotogalleriet, Stephanie von Spreter.
The artists selected for the Spring Exhibition 2012 are Hilde Aagaard (born 1958 in Lillehammer, lives in Lillehammer), Azar Alsharif (born 1984 in Bushehr/Iran, lives in Bergen), Ole Martin Lund Bø (born 1973 in Stavanger, lives in Oslo), Jan Freuchen (born 1979 in Stavanger, lives in Oslo and Berlin), Jason Havneraas (born 1978 in Aberdeen/Scotland, lives in Trondheim) and Cathrine Ruud (born 1981 in Hommelvik, lives in Trondheim).

THEME
The 6th Drawing Biennale is based on drawing as expression. In this context, the biennale will actualize the following: How can drawing question conditions in society? How can drawing be used in the political discussion? How can drawing make a personal expression of abstract character? Use the drawing to show your community involvement.
